Are we nuts?

The answer is a resounding... maybe.

Fireworks War is a tradition that was started a number of years ago by a group of guys that had some bottle rockets and firecrackers and thought it would be funny to shoot them at each other.

Needless to say, it's grown up a bit.

Every year two teams come head to head on a battlefield complete with bunkers and boundary lines and face off in a full-scale pyrotechnics battle that has lasted up to 4 hours or more.

Each year, months before the battle, the participants design and construct weaponry and armor to improve the quality and quantity of "ammunition" they can fire at the opposing team. Any size/type of fireworks you can afford is fair game, with a few guidelines set in place so we don't literally blow each other to bits... completely.

It's open to anyone with the cojones (or female equivalent) enough to participate in the battle, and those that don't are invited to watch from the observation deck which is located about 70 yards away from the battlefield.

Once the battle commences it's a blinding, deafening, smoke filled, yet awe-inspiring display of war game mayhem.

Fireworks War, it's got the Oooh and Ahhh of a 4th of July fireworks display, the excitement of paint-ball, and the danger of a sack full of badgers all crammed into one evening.

2007 is upon us! With just under a month to go, fireworks have been ordered and plans are in action to build some of the most outrageous war machines yet! Be sure to check us out on youtube.com and keep an eye out for further updates!. Sorry for the problems with our photo gallery, but you can thank spammers for that one.

Unfortunately, Fireworks War 2005 has come and gone, and all we have left of it are fond memories, some pictures, and a few video clips. We've tried to include all of these things here on this website for your viewing pleasure--something to keep us busy until the War of '06. Also, we're planning to produce a DVD, so keep your eyes peeled for news on that.

Enjoy, and until then...
